Introductions:

Swim team Moms – Susan Dramis and Mindy Spor
NBSL Rep / NBSL President – George Dramis
Head Coach – Kevin Van Such
Assistant Coaches – Marie Malseed &
Martin Amis

Coaches update:  Kevin spoke at the meeting regarding this year's swim team.  He's very excited to be coaching the team this year...it's his 3rd year coaching but first as head coach.  He really intends to focus on more fun for all involved in swim team...the swimmers, the parents, and the coaches.  He will continue with Mechanics practice in the evening as well as a lane for swimmers not able to attend morning practices.  The practice schedule can be found on this website under "PRACTICE SCHEDULE".

Team Suits/Caps -

Team suits are once again available for purchase through Blazin' Swimwear.  Blaise Matthews will be at Wednesday night's practice (6/7) from 5-6:30 for suit and other apparel orders.  We will be wearing the same suit as last year.  Swim Caps will be available to swimmers prior to the first meet.

Fundraisers

Our only fundraisers this year will be snack bar at our two home meets and our annual car wash.

Snack Bar (2 home meets) please bring assigned items for home meets. Carla Power will be heading up the snack bar and will provide us with our assigned items prior to each meet. THANKS CARLA!!!

Car Wash – Saturday, July 8 please bring sponges, buckets & hoses. It will be from 9:00 – 12:00. Sue Lang is organizing this FUNdraiser. It’s a blast. THANKS SUE!!!

Time Trials

Time Trials will be held on Thursday, June 22 (rain date June 23rd).  Please see the sign up sheet for snack donations.

Pancake Breakfast / Pictures

The pancake breakfast is scheduled for Friday, June 30th.  The Claymont Lions Club has graciously agreed to provide our pancake breakfast at no charge to us. They bring the griddles, pancake batter and plates. We just provide the place and the drinks! THANKS LIONS!!!

Pictures (individual and group) will be taken on the morning of Friday, June 30th.  We ask that ALL swimmers be there for the pictures at 9am.  Pancakes will be served following pictures.

Swim-A-Thon

Our annual swim-a-thon will be held Monday, July 3. We recommended we again swim for the Lions Club this year; this was approved by those in attendance.   100% of the money raised will be put into the Lions Club playground project for Bellevue State Park. The Lions are in the process of raising $150,000 for this project to replace aging playground equipment and make the equipment more handicapped accessible. Over the last two years we have raised over $1300.

End of Season Awards/Gifts

Last year this was brought up at the end of the season and we said we’d reevaluate it this season.  The only decision that needs to be made is to have the awards of MVP / Most Improved or not have them.  We will be polling all the parents via email and will get back to you with the results.

Gifts: It was suggested we do t-shirts and gift card grab bag again.  This year, we're going to have a contest to come up with the slogan.

End of Season Picnic

This year, we have a meet between prelims and championships.  Therefore, we will be having our swim team picnic on Tuesday, July 25th.  It is our plan to close the pool that evening to the general public and only have swim team families present for the party.  It is our intention to once again get the inflatable slip and slide for the party.  It was agreed at the meeting, that the party this year will either need to be covered dish or a dollar amount per family (depends on how much money we make on snack bar this year).  If you're interested in helping with the picnic, please see Mindy or Susan.

Home Meet Activities

Once again, we will be having pizza ordered following the home meets. The pool will be open for swimming for about an hour. We asked for a parent to organize the pizza order and Kathy Wright volunteered to do this...if you'd like to help her, please let her know.  Thanks Kathy!

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer forms were passed around at the meeting.  Please look for them at the pool during practice.

NBSL Update
George Dramis spoke regarding the NBSL's new code of conduct.  Please look for a copy to be posted at the pool and also on this website.  Parents are urged to talk to George, Susan or Mindy if they have a problem during a meet.   There are also some changes with prelims this year.  In years past, the top 4 finishers moved on to champs...this year, only those swimmers who meet the Champs qualifying time will be moving on to champs.  There have also been some changes made for 6 & under swimmers.  Please see one of us if you need it to be explained.

Questions:
We were asked to make sure that the coaches work on diving and starts with our swimmers prior to the first meet.
